Association of Ammunition Technicians

History and Constitution

HISTORY

The idea of an Association was first discussed at the funeral of a late colleague in the mid-90’s. The idea was then mulled over and support developed until two members of the trade organised and advertised the inaugural meeting at the Victory Services Club, London in 1996. The meeting was very well attended, lively and enjoyed by all.

Since that year we have continued to meet annually in October in a variety of venues. We now also have a Black Tie dinner at Kineton around April/May time. Our other current annual activity is a contingent that marches past the Cenotaph, London each year on Remembrance Sunday, the Association having been granted official recognition by the Royal British Legion. We also provide an important role in maintaining speedy e-mail communication with our members for the passage of timely information concerning job opportunities in the wider EOD, Explosives and related trades.

Full Membership is open to all Ammunition Technicians (AT) serving and late of the Royal Logistic Corps and Royal Army Ordnance Corps; Ammunition Examiners (AE) late of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps; Assistant Ammunition Examiners (AAE) late of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and Laboratory Foremen late of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and Army Ordnance Corps. This includes personnel who, having served as AT, AE, AAE or Laboratory Foreman, who were subsequently commissioned.
